May/28/11: President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is standing his ground as Iran’s government authority over the Islamic regimes religious dictatorship of Ayatollah Khomeini.
An aide to Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khomeini called on President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to “turn back to the main path,” suggesting the Islamic regime’s highest power may be losing patience with the head of state.
The comments, in an interview with the semi-official Mehr news agency, come as pressure mounts on Ahmadinejad after he sacked several ministers and put himself in direct charge of the Oil Ministry, a move his critics are calling a power grab.
